S.A sprint queen Alyssa Conley has started a shoe drive initiative.

As an athlete that discovered my talent running on gravel stone in a underprivileged school situated in Riverlea , I’ve been through the challenges that our young athletes face today.

To have a dream is a blessing, to be blessed with a talent is priceless but to have the support to achieve your dream and develop your talent is scarce.

I was lucky enough to be blessed with a support team in the 17th year of my athletic career; yes, it’s come late but I believe better late than never. Wanderers sports medical Centre (WSMC) has assisted me with my medical requirements thus pass year and as a sports center and athlete we both know it takes a team to achieve victory.

Therefore, the WSMC in association with S.A sprint queen Alyssa Conley has started a shoe drive initiative. We aim to supply and reward underprivileged sports clubs with footwear to help their members achieve their running goals. The WSMC receives footwear donations from family and friends of the club as well as athletes that would love to keep a dream alive.

The aim of the club is to assist as many run clubs as possible and help develop raw talent within the club. We believe athletics is on the rise and we just want to do our part in re-establishing the sport in South Africa by giving back to those less fortunate.
Our mission is to keep the belief alive amongst these athletes.

Recently the Gauteng Striders Athletics Club came to visit the WSMC where 22 young athletes got to interact with Alyssa Conley as she taught them a few track and field drills. The Gauteng Striders Club also received pairs of footwear for their members.
It’s a blessing to receive but it’s a beautiful blessing to give. I Alyssa Conley with WSMC challenge you to change a life and keep a dream alive by donating new or used running footwear to the ACSpeedstar and WSMC shoe drive.
