Jody Hendricks describes his experience at the recent Liberty Radio Awards hosted in Johannesburg on 22 April.
These awards give recognition to the on and off air radio talent, who work tirelessly to entertain, educate and inform millions of South Africans everyday.
On Saturday 22 April, the who’s who of the radio industry gathered at the Sandton Convention Centre for the all-new Liberty Radio Awards, previously known as the MTN radio awards. I was lucky enough to get an invite as well.
Comedian David Kau had the audience in stitches while handing out almost 60 awards, ranging from campus, PBS to commercial radio.
Some of the big winners on the night were Power FM, Primedia and various radio stations at the SABC, like UMHLOBO WENENE FM, who was the PBS Station of the Year.
The event was also an opportunity for old radio colleges to catch up but also to build new networks. The evening was fun and I would like to congratulate all the winners.
